Stephen Wong & Takako Uno Underwater Photography
Full time husband and wife marine photojournalists since 1997, Stephen & Takako are now based in Hong Kong. Their work has taken them around the globe, from the floating ice of the Arctic Circle to the tip of Argentina.
Stephen & Takako's works have been published in over 18 countries and 100 journals & printed matters, including National Geographic, BBC Wildlife & GEO. Their works have appeared in more than 30 photo exhibitions. These include Nikon's "Stephen & Takako Marine Photo Exhibition"; Swire Properties' "Wonders in Deep Waters - a Photo Montage of Stephen & Takako"; MTR sponsored "Cetaceans" which featured 24 different species of Whales and Dolphins taken by the couple; and their latest solo montage, "Form & Dance" - again sponsored by Swire Properties (sister company of Cathay Pacific Airways). Furthermore, their images have received awards in dozens of international photo competitions, including four times in the prestigious BBC Wildlife Photo Contests. Stephen has been awarded to be 'Hong Kong Underwater Photographer of the Year' in both 1997 & 1998 by HK Underwater Association.
Takako has recently discovered a new species of Nudibranch, now termed as "Takako's Trapania". Her Manatee image has been selected to be used by PADI (the world's largest diver training organization) homepage. In Jan 2007, Stephen has been invited by Nikon to have his images on Nikon's website (coming in 3rd Quarter 2007) and photographic book.
Stephen and Takako's images have appeared in over many books, including co-authorship of "Sipadan-Mabul Islands" and "Celebrate the Sea". The couple's recently publication, "An Ocean Odyssey" - a 240-page wide blue pictorial anthology, has received broad international acclaims. Stephen & Takako's new book, "Gorontalo Hidden Paradise", together with William Tan and Rantje Allen is just out.
