Diving North Sulawesi with Eco Divers Manado & Lembeh Strait

Diving with Eco Divers in North Sulawesi

A dominating volcanic landscape creates a unique backdrop for you to discover North Sulawesi, one of the world's best yet least known dive destinations. The year-round diving here is all about amazing variety and exotic surroundings. The deep seas give excellent average visibility (25m). They are also home to many unusual species, for example the prehistoric fish "coelacanth" as well as some household names: reef-shark, turtles, eagle rays, napoleon wrasse, even dugong and orca! The majority of sites are conveniently accessed within one hour from your hotel and yet North Sulawesi's remote location means that the sites are never crowded with other divers.

Diving Services at Eco Divers/Kima Bajo Resort

Eco Divers' purpose built boats are built in a traditional design, powered by energy efficient double outboard engines and have comfort features including sundeck, camera rinse tanks, WC and shaded salon. Surely the most comfortable boats in the area, they take divers to over 30 dive sites with speed and comfort, each carrying a maximum of just 8 guest divers. Snorkellers and non-divers are also welcome to join the trips. Dive groups are kept very small - just 4 guests to each guide. At the jetty a camera storage facility with individual lockers is available for guests' use.

Our daily dive program to Bunaken National Park offers a two-tank morning trip and one-tank afternoon trip. The morning trip departs at 8.15am and the boats return at around 1pm, so guests can enjoy lunch at Kima Bajo Resort. The afternoon trip departs at 3pm and returns by around 4.30-5.00pm.

Night dives, trips to Lembeh Strait and PADI dive courses can be arranged on request.

The design of Eco Divers' boats is focused on maximum comfort and safety. Although measuring in at a large 16m x 3.8m they carry just eight guest divers, giving lots of space per guest. This means we have been able to provide plenty of extra features you would not normally find on a traditional-style vessel:

  • a shaded, seated salon to relax in between dives
  • a seated dive deck with individual dive stations for each guest
  • a sundeck
  • environmental toilet
  • even a shower!

For your safety each boats is fitted with double outboard engines (115HP), VHF radio, GPS, oxygen, first aid, bilge pumps, life jackets and fire extinguishers. The wide stainless steel dive ladder is designed so you can re-board the boat with ease.

Our highly experienced Lembeh guides know every inch of the Strait and will show you where the best critter action can be found.

You'll dive off two of the best speedboats in Lembeh, each featuring tank rack, jump gate and loads of room to cater to eight divers in great comfort - remember we dive in groups of no more than four people - and you have fast, seamless diving with a company which genuinely cares.

In between dives, you'll return to the spacious decks of "Nautica", an extremely comfortable vessel on which you'll enjoy your surface interval. This is Eco Divers' own purpose-built boat, fitted with shaded salon, two bathrooms, showers, sundeck, oxygen and many safety features. There's camera charging available on-board and we even serve you a hot buffet lunch! Although Nautica is able to carry many more divers, the limit will be just twelve guests, with a guaranteed maximum guest-to-guide ratio of 4:1.

Nitrox is available and we also offer full photo & video support services.
